As part of a recently announced partnership with DTE Energy Co (DTE.N), Michigan’s top renewable energy producer, Stellantis NV (STLA.MI) has announced its intention to source all of its energy from solar sources by 2026, allowing 70 facilities in the state to run completely off the sun.

In announcing the partnership, Stellantis provides a tangible example of its commitment to achieving “carbon net zero” over the next twenty years and it comes at a time when more and more businesses are feeling the pressure to reduce their environmental impact.

In order to accomplish this, the automaker will eliminate its North American carbon emissions by half and its company-wide carbon emissions by 30% by 2026 as a result of this project.

Earlier this year, Ford Motor Company (F.N) also signed an agreement with DTE in order to utilize solar power for its operations as part of a power purchase agreement.
