The Role of Renewable Energy in Manufacturing

Spread the love

Renewable energy is energy made from sources like sunlight and wind that are natural and never get finished. Renewable energy in manufacturing can be used for electricity generation, space and water heating and cooling, and conveyance.

Solar Growth Statistics in India 2022

India has emerged as a global leader in the use of solar power. From November 30, 2022, the country had 61.97 gigawatts (GW) of installed solar capacity, placing it fourth globally for solar photovoltaic (PV) deployment. Today, India’s solar tariffs are competitive and have achieved grid parity.

In 2022, 13,956 megawatts (MW) of solar and 1,847 MW of wind capacity were installed in India. Most solar capacity was installed in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan. According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, as of December 31, the country had 120.85 GW of incremental installed renewable energy capacity. Solar energy tabs for around 52% of the across-the-board renewables mix, followed by small hydro at 4%, wind at 35%, and bio-power at 9%.

The Role of Renewable Energy in Manufacturing

  1. Increased investments in renewable energy signify a global shift towards sustainable practices, reflecting a growing recognition of environmental concerns. This influx of capital enhances the development and deployment of renewable technologies, contributing to a cleaner energy landscape. The declining costs of solar energy sources play a pivotal role in the widespread adoption of solar power. As costs decrease, solar becomes more economically viable, fostering greater accessibility and affordability for businesses and consumers.
  2. The coexistence of various energy sources, including fossil fuels, biomass power, hydropower, and wind power, creates a diverse energy portfolio. This diversity ensures a stable and reliable energy supply, addressing the intermittency challenges of some renewable sources.
  3. Increased Government support reinforces the transition to renewable energy. Governments worldwide are implementing policies, incentives, and regulations that promote the adoption of clean energy technologies, signaling a commitment to environmental sustainability. This support accelerates the integration of renewables into the mainstream energy sector.
  4. Constant advancements in technology and enhanced efficiency steer the success of renewable energy. Breakthroughs in solar panel design, energy storage solutions, and grid management systems improve renewable sources’ overall performance and reliability, making them more appealing options to conventional energy.
  5. The renewable energy sector promotes environmental sustainability and develops new employment options. Job creation arises across diverse renewable energy value chain stages, from research and development to manufacturing, installation, and maintenance. This fosters economic growth while sustaining the transition to a greener, more eco-friendly energy future.

Final Words

Renewable energy is a crucial solution in battling climate change. By transitioning to a low-carbon energy mix, we can enhance energy security, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and provide millions of people access to clean, green, affordable energy. Governments, businesses, and individuals work together to make the change to renewable energy a reality and assure an eco-friendly tomorrow.
