Telecom Italia expands green power supply deal with ERG
Telecom Italia, (TIM) (TLIT.MI), announced on Tuesday that it had extended a power-purchase agreement (PPA) to include renewable energy group ERG (ERG.MI), as part of Italy’s largest phone company’s efforts to switch to greener energy.
The new contract, which will run for nine years, will include an existing agreement that adds 200 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year produced entirely by ERG’s renewable power plants.
TIM announced that the power purchase agreements for renewable energy under the new contract will cover 34% of the company’s energy sales in Italy.
TIM is Italy’s second-largest energy consumer. In December, TIM covered 46% of the energy used in its own country with renewable sources. By 2025, it aims to be completely dependent on green energy.
