An electric vehicle developed by Izera will be based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA)

A new electric automaker called ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) has been founded by the Polish state-owned energy companies Energa, Enea, Tauron, and PGE. During the company’s July 28 presentation, Izera was announced as the brand under which its cars would be sold. The plan was to build them on top of an existing platform. There is a Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) from Geely that we now know about.

Itzera presented two prototype models in 2020, the T100 (a C-segment hatchback) and the Z100 (a C-segment SUV). The styling was handled by Torino Design, and EDAG Engineering was responsible for integrating it into whatever architecture EMP could secure for it. It was announced on September 7, 2021, that Izera had chosen the underpinnings of its cars, but that information would only be disclosed at the beginning of 2022, all the while announcing the design of the cars. In reality, it took a little more than that.

For EMP, the SEA is what assures that it can make these cars without investing a fortune in the development of its own platform so that it can compete in the modern market. It establishes Geely as a key architectural supplier for the MEB and its components – something Volkwagen wanted to achieve with the MEB and its components in the first place. Until now, there has been no announcement from the German company regarding how it plans to license its platform. It was a deal with Mahindra that brought us the closest we could get to that goal, as it was a deal to supply MEB components, not the architecture itself.

Since EMP had defined the platform it would use in September 2021, it is likely that the platform was already under development by then – if it hadn’t already been under development earlier – and it had been working with it for a year and a few months. As EMP confirmed in its 2020 newsletter that the Izera Z100 would be ready to roll out in 2023, the fact is that, as EMP had announced in its 2020 newsletter, the Izera Z100 was the first vehicle to be shown. Considering that the Fisker Ocean was developed over an existing architecture in a matter of two years, it was quite feasible for them to do so.

It seems as though Izera is not the only one who is concerned about this issue. In the meantime, EMP has been working on the construction of the factory where the cars will be manufactured. Located in Jaworzno, it will be completed by the end of 2023, and workers are expected to begin work there in the near future. It was indicated that the first Izera may be held in 2024 as a result of rumors that the event had been postponed. The good news is that we have already been able to identify what will underpin these new electric vehicles. Along with the SUV and hatchback, Izera is also going to be building a C-segment station wagon over the course of the SEA period. Until now, no information has been provided about this vehicle in any form.
